Constructor launches Agentic Checkout powered by Stripe for its onsite shopping agents
Industry News · Retail and E-commerce · October 5, 2026
The shopping agent on a retailer’s own site can now take the payment, so the question and the sale happen in one conversation
Constructor launched Agentic Checkout on October 5, 2026. A shopper can find products, ask questions, get recommendations and pay in one AI agent conversation. Payment runs through the Stripe Link wallet or other payment methods. Constructor says that it is the first onsite shopping agent with checkout powered by Stripe.
Agentic Checkout works inside two Constructor agents. The AI Shopping Agent (ASA) helps a shopper find products. The AI Product Insights Agent (PIA) answers questions on product detail pages. Constructor plans to add more touchpoints later in 2026. The feature is available worldwide.
Stripe Link has 250 million customers. Among Link users, 80% used a chat-based agent in the past month. Half of Link users use AI for shopping research at least once a month.
Constructor said that its AI agent deployments grew 900% in the past year. PYMNTS cited two more figures. One figure says that 23% of consumers start retail research with AI. The other says that 59% of AI shoppers now use AI for research that they did on Amazon before.
Co-founder and CEO Eli Finkelshteyn said that a shopper can say what they need and AI can help them “every step of the way.”
The launch follows NIQ data from last week. NIQ found that 51% of US consumers used an AI shopping tool in the past month.
The takeaway
A shopping agent that cannot take payment sends the buyer back to a cart. Every step between the answer and the payment is a place where a buyer can leave. Put checkout inside the conversation, with a saved wallet.
Why it matters for agent-led growth
- The retailer controls the onsite agent. Outside agents depend on access that a marketplace can block. Amazon blocked Meta’s Muse in September. An onsite agent with checkout keeps the sale on your own site.
- A saved wallet removes the payment form. Link stores payment details for 250 million customers. A buyer with a saved wallet can pay inside the chat.
- The product page is where the buyer decides. The Product Insights Agent answers questions at that moment. Check that your product data answers the questions that buyers ask most.
- Track the conversation-to-sale rate. Count the agent conversations that end in a purchase, and report that rate as its own number.
