Vida introduces outcome-based billing for AI agents

Industry News · Sales Technology · October 12, 2026

When an agent does a job, the price can follow the result, so the definition of a result becomes the contract

Vida announced on October 5, 2026 that customers can pay for its AI agents by result. Outcome-based billing charges for verified results, such as a qualified lead or a completed warm transfer. Customers can use it or the existing usage-based billing.

A business defines the outcomes that a digital employee must deliver. Vida gives four examples: qualify a lead, complete a warm transfer, handle onboarding and win back a lost customer. The Vida platform tracks each outcome with metrics and key performance indicators (KPIs) that the customer sets.

The model is available first for performance marketing, insurance and other industries that depend on leads. Vida says that it works best when the result has a clear definition. The release gives no prices, no customer names and no performance data.

Lyle Pratt, Founder and CEO of Vida, said: “AI agents are taking on real jobs inside businesses, but most are still priced like traditional software.”

The takeaway

Outcome pricing moves risk from the buyer to the vendor. Then the written definition of each outcome controls what you pay. Write down what a qualified lead is before you agree to pay for one.

Why it matters for agent-led growth

  • Define the result before you buy. Sales, marketing and the vendor must accept one written definition of a qualified lead. Without it, each invoice can start a dispute.
  • Compare cost per result across channels. Outcome billing gives you a cost for each qualified lead. Compare it with your cost for each lead from paid media and from human sales development representatives (SDRs).
  • Check who counts the results. Vida tracks outcomes in its own platform. Ask how you can audit the count against the records in your CRM.
