Wall Street’s hottest skill is agent orchestration: seven agentic GTM stories from September 29 to October 5, 2026
Industry News · Weekly roundup · October 5, 2026
This week, agents took payments, read price data and worked the donor list, and banks started to hire the people who coordinate them
Bank job ads that mention agent orchestration rose from 108 in 2025 to 1,967 in 2026. The CEO of Draup, the firm that tracked the data, calls it the hottest skill on Wall Street. The other six stories show the work that those orchestrators will manage. ZoomInfo bought DoubleO.ai so that teams of agents can run a full sales play. Braze gave marketers self-service AI decisions and a QA agent that checks brand rules. Constructor put Stripe checkout inside its shopping agents. Expana put agrifood price data inside Claude, ChatGPT, Copilot and Gemini. Arcadia gave care-gap agents a decision record. Blackbaud pointed a Development Agent at donors that no gift officer manages.
The stories come from seven industries, and they show one pattern. Each agent gets a clear trigger, current data and a rule set. A person owns the result and reads the record. The agents also finish the task now: they send the outreach, take the payment or close the gap. The teams that move first this quarter will name an owner for each agent and write down its limits.
The seven stories
Story 1 · Financial Services
Bank AI job postings rise 49% as agent orchestration mentions jump 1,721%
PYMNTS reported on October 2, 2026 that AI-related job postings at banks rose 49% to 139,819. The data comes from Draup, a firm that analyzes hiring. Mentions of agent orchestration rose from 108 in 2025 to 1,967, an increase of 1,721%. Postings for responsible AI rose 657%.
Takeaway: Agent orchestration is now a named skill with a job market. A GTM team that runs agents needs the same role: a person who designs how the agents hand off work, and who answers for the result.
Story 2 · Sales Technology
ZoomInfo acquires DoubleO.ai and launches Agent Teams to run complete go-to-market plays
ZoomInfo announced on September 30, 2026 that it acquired DoubleO.ai, a company that builds orchestration for teams of AI agents. One day later, ZoomInfo released Agent Teams inside GTM Studio. Agent Teams runs complete go-to-market plays, such as the follow-up when a champion changes jobs. Customers get it with no new SKU and no new contract.
Takeaway: An agent that runs a full play needs two parts: steps that run the same way each time, and current data about the account. Get both parts in place before you give an agent a play from start to finish.
Story 3 · Marketing Technology
Braze Forge 2026 adds Decisioning Studio Go, Agentic Standards and Operator Connect
Braze announced new AI capabilities at Braze Forge 2026 in Las Vegas, September 28 to 30. Decisioning Studio Go lets a marketer run AI decisioning for email without help from engineers. Agentic Standards checks each campaign against rules that the marketer writes. Operator Connect lets a marketer work in Braze from Claude, ChatGPT or Microsoft Copilot.
Takeaway: When AI makes the decisions inside a campaign, the marketer owns the rule set. Write the brand rules, the frequency limits and the role permissions first. A QA agent enforces only the rules that you write down.
Story 4 · Retail and E-commerce
Constructor launches Agentic Checkout powered by Stripe for its onsite shopping agents
Constructor launched Agentic Checkout on October 5, 2026. A shopper can find products, ask questions, get recommendations and pay in one AI agent conversation. Payment runs through the Stripe Link wallet or other payment methods. Constructor says that it is the first onsite shopping agent with checkout powered by Stripe.
Takeaway: A shopping agent that cannot take payment sends the buyer back to a cart. Every step between the answer and the payment is a place where a buyer can leave. Put checkout inside the conversation, with a saved wallet.
Story 5 · Agriculture
Expana launches Expana IQ Connect, an MCP server for agrifood price benchmarks and forecasts
Expana launched Expana IQ Connect on September 30, 2026. It is an enterprise server that uses the Model Context Protocol (MCP). It gives AI agents in Claude, ChatGPT, Copilot and Gemini direct access to Expana benchmark prices, forecasts and insights for agrifood markets. A cost model agent is already live, and Expana plans more specialist agents.
Takeaway: For a B2B data company, the buyer’s AI assistant is now a sales channel. If your product is information, ship an MCP server so that the buyer’s agent can read your data where the buyer works.
Story 6 · Healthcare
Arcadia launches Healthcare Performance Platform with agentic workflows for care gaps
Arcadia launched its Healthcare Performance Platform on October 5, 2026. The launch includes three solution suites: Ascent, CareJourney and LifeScience. Its agentic workflows run on a scale from assistive to autonomous. The agents find care gaps, rank patients by priority and coordinate care, and the system documents each decision.
Takeaway: In a regulated market, an agent can act only when a person can audit what it did. Arcadia uses a scale from assistive to autonomous, with a decision record for each step. Use the same scale for GTM agents that contact customers.
Story 7 · Nonprofit
Blackbaud announces Platform for Good, the Lantern fundraising model and new Agents for Good
Blackbaud announced Platform for Good at bbcon 2026 on September 29, 2026. The company calls it the first unified operating system for social impact. It has three layers: data, intelligence and action. Blackbaud also announced Lantern, a fundraising language model built with Databricks, and new Agents for Good, which include a Development Agent.
Takeaway: Point the first agent at work that no person does today. Unassigned donors give little now, so an agent that engages them adds capacity and takes no work from a gift officer.
